WHY DID SAINT LOUIS UNIVERSITY AND SSM HEALTH WORK WITH THE CITY OF ST. LOUIS TO ESTABLISH THE ST. LOUIS MIDTOWN 353 REDEVELOPMENT PLAN?

WHAT RIGHTS DOES THE ST. LOUIS MIDTOWN REDEVELOPMENT CORPORATION HAVE?

The corporation was formed pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 353 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri. The rights and responsibilities of the Redevelopment Corporation are set out in the St. Louis Midtown Redevelopment Agreement and Plan.  One of the major responsibilities of the St. Louis Midtown Redevelopment Corporation is to review plans for improvements constructed or altered within the Redevelopment Area and to enter into Parcel Development Agreements with the property owner/developer. Information regarding plans to be submitted to the Redevelopment Corporation and Parcel Development Agreements is contained in Section F (Pages 24-29) of the Redevelopment Plan.

WHEN SHOULD I CONTACT THE ST. LOUIS MIDTOWN REDEVELOPMENT CORPORATION REGARDING AN IMPROVEMENT I WANT TO MAKE TO MY PROPERTY?

You should contact the St. Louis Midtown Redevelopment Corporation anytime you plan to make a substantial rehabilitation of an existing structure, construct an addition to an existing structure, or construct a new structure, particularly if the project will affect the exterior appearance of your property. If the project requires a building permit from the City of St. Louis, you should notify the St. Louis Midtown Redevelopment Corporation.

No.

DOES THE ST. LOUIS MIDTOWN REDEVELOPMENT CORPORATION HAVE AUTHORITY TO GRANT TAX ABATEMENT?

Yes, for deserving projects that demonstrate need. Information regarding available tax abatement is contained in Section Y (Pages 44-50) of the Redevelopment Plan.
